EUSALP Summer Camp 2022 / Chartreuse (FR)

General information

The first camp of the summer will take place in France in the Chartreuse massif from July 4th to 8th 2022. It is open to young people from 18 to 25 years old who wish to share an international citizenship experience in connection with the themes of the EUSALP.

Where did the idea of organizing a summer camp in the Chartreuse come from?

When the EUSALP started to involve young people in its functioning, the idea of organizing summer camps was proposed by a young resident of Chambéry. Four years later and after 2 years of pandemic, we wanted to reconnect to the young people who live in the Alps. It is also important for us to be close to the places where we organize the summer camps to facilitate their organization. Moreover, we can easily get in contact with local stakeholders and make the link between the specific project and challenges of the territory.

The EUSALP Youth Council has chosen 3 themes for the summer camps 2022, and each camp will have a theme running through it during the 4 days. In the Chartreuse, climate change and natural resources will be the main topics of discussion and activities.

The group will stay in a chalet located in the middle of a medium altitude ski resort. The history of this ski resort will be a good introduction to the theme of the camp as climate change had led to its closure due to lack of snow. But a group of citizens from the Entremonts valley decided to restart the ski lifts thanks to the creation of an association and its volunteers.

Registration

Registration is open until June 20, 2022. The EUSALP summer camps are open to all young people aged between 18 and 25 who live in the Alpine region.

Program

For this camp we wanted to leave the group autonomous on the organization of the meals because the agriculture being a resource, the young people will be able to decide together the products which they consume. Then, through meetings and activities, the young people will have the opportunity to learn about concrete examples of jobs, public policies and projects related to this theme.
