At the EUSALP Annual Forum 2022, which took place in Trento, Italy, the young people of the five finalist projects of PITCH YOUR PROJECT 2022 pitched their ideas on stage and answered questions from the audience present at the Social Theatre in Trento. All finalists have innovative ideas to develop the Alpine Region in a sustainable way and to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the Alps.
The audience, composed of people physically or virtually present, chose the three winners through online voting.
We proudly present the winners:
- The ELDA project team won this edition of the Pitch Your Project competition and the € 5,000 prize money. It is composed of French students in aeronautical engineering. Their idea is to use drones to meet two needs specific to the Alpine region. ELDA is intended for ski resorts and allows to prevent the risk of avalanche as well as to better manage the snow cover, in particular for the production of artificial snow.
- Insawlation, which is also a project developed by French engineering students, made the second place and won € 3,000. They demonstrated that sawdust could be a very good insulator for buildings in the Alpine region. By joining forces with the Alpine wood production chain, they could considerably improve the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce waste from the wood industry. All this with a local distribution economic model.
- This is Live Love Alps which made the third place and won € 2,000. Live Love Alps is a social project that aims to create communities of committed people in the Alpine region. These communities are focusing on environmental, cultural and social issues. This method has already proven itself in other regions, and now it is the turn of the Alps to join the Live Love network.
The prizes were presented by Sławomir Tokarski, Director, European Territorial Cooperation, Macro-regions, Interreg and Programme Implementation I, in the DG REGIO of the European Commission, and the first vice-president of the Tyrolean Parliament Sophia Kircher.

The “Pitch Your Project” competition was organized for the fifth time in 2022 by the European Commission and the Tyrol with the support of the Italian EUSALP presidency to involve young people with their ideas more strongly in the sustainable development of the Alpine region. “Pitch Your Project” is part of the initiative “youth.shaping.EUSALP” to involve youth in the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region.
