Join the European Talent School 2021

Understand research, broaden your horizons, awaken your own creativity: This year, the “European Talent School”, a cooperation project between the Working Community of the Alpine Regions (ARGE ALP) and the Fraunhofer Society, will take place in the Tyrolean mountain village Alpbach.
Pupils who are attending grade 10, 11 or 12 at general secondary schools and vocational secondary schools in the current school year and who are enthusiastic about scientific topics, mathematics, technology and research can now apply to take part in the event, which will take place between 30 September and 3 October 2021 at the Congress Centrum Alpbach.

The deadline for applications is September 21st 2021

At the European Talent School, the students will get to know the everyday working life in a Fraunhofer Institute and work in a practice-oriented manner on a topic in the natural sciences, mathematics, physics and computer science under the guidance of scientists.

The following workshops are available:

  • Mathematics, Games and Machine Learning
  • Hacking basic course
  • Physics experiments – in Fraunhofer’s footsteps
  • Protecting the environment through holistic accounting
In the workshops, the young people can also expect: independent, practical work, experimenting, building their own simple scientific devices, exchanging ideas with other people interested in STEM subjects and discussing current scientific issues with the scientists on site.

Participation requires a good knowledge of German, as the courses are held in German. The European Talent School is open to all young people living in one of the 10 ARGE ALP regions: St.Gallen, Grisons, Ticino, Bavaria, Tyrol, Salzburg, Vorarlberg, South Tyrol, Trentino and Lombardy.

The participation fee is € 80,- (incl. accommodation, meals, workshop, excursion, leisure programme). Pupils can also apply for a reduction or exemption of the fee. If circumstances require, the event will take place virtually from 1 – 2 October 2021.
